Valerie Joan MARTIN (1945 - )

Valerie Joan was born on 5 October 1945 at the Clovelly Nursing home, 37 West View Rd. Keynsham, Somerset, to James Frederick MARTIN and Betty Joyce MARTIN. She was raised in the village of Upton Cheyney in South Gloucestershire and educated at Kingswood Grammar School.

On leaving school she worked for the Ministry of Overseas Development in London before moving back to the West of England and joining The Port of Bristol Authority.

She married Quenton REED on 7 February 1970 at the Register Office, Kingswood, Gloucester. They had one child, in 1970. They lived at Shirehampton, Bristol.

After bringing up her daughter Cerise, Valerie joined HM Customs & Excise. She worked in Avonmouth and Bristol, employed in Accounts, Excise, Staff Section, the Collectors Private Office and Customs Assurance.

After divorcing Quenton, she married Trevor John TOMASIN on 14 December 1985 at Weston-super-Mare Register Office.

They live at Clevedon in Somerset.

Valerie Joan retired in 2005 and now shares her time between researching her own Family History, tending her allotment, her three Tomasin grandchildren and pet cat.
